At Sea Change, we value the collaborative relationship we have with our General Practitioner partners. To facilitate faster, more efficient care for your patients, we offer a Direct Access Colonoscopy & Gastroscopy pathway.

This service is designed to streamline the patient journey, allowing you to refer suitable patients directly for their endoscopy, bypassing the need for an initial face-to-face consultation with our surgeons.

How the Process Works

Our system is built on clear communication and clinical safety:

GP referral: Please submit a referral below including all relevant clinical information, including any relevant imaging reports and recent blood test results.
Clinical triage: Our specialist surgeons will personally review every referral to determine the patient’s suitability for a Direct Access scope.
Scheduling & consent: Once a patient is triaged as suitable, our administration team will contact them directly to handle financial consent, any questions and scheduling.

If a patient does not meet the criteria for a Direct Access scope, we will promptly offer them a standard consultation with one of our surgeons.

Patient Suitability & Exclusion Criteria

To maintain the safety and efficiency of this service, please screen referrals against the following criteria.

Patients not suitable for the Direct Access pathway include those:

Patients under 18 and some patients over 75 years of age
People with significant heart, lung or kidney disease
Who do not meet the standard clinical safety profile for a day-procedure scope.
People on blood thinners other than aspirin.

Note: For patients who fall outside these criteria, please refer them for a standard consultation.
